The complete outdoor list and casual-use rules
Which outdoor destinations does the City list?
The ten are Parkinson Recreation Centre, Blair Pond, Cross Glen, Edith Gay, Gertsmar, Knox Mountain, Quilchena, Dehart, Rutland Recreation and Glenmore Recreation parks. Each has its own location section below. This is the named municipal outdoor list, not every indoor or private operator.
Is outdoor casual play free?
Yes. City outdoor courts are free first come first served, subject to posted rules. Some courts close for club allocations, City programs, tournaments or maintenance. Free entry does not mean every court is publicly available at every hour.
What is the earliest start time?
Do not begin play before 8am, for noise management. Parkinson courts are locked from dusk to 8am. Check the individual site's posted hours as well; the general start rule is not permission to play past a park's closing time.
Waiting turns, coaching and construction
How do waiting players get a court?
Place paddles in the paddle holder at the entrance. When others are waiting, limit play to one game to eleven. Do not interrupt neighbouring play by walking across an active court. Follow the site's current queue directions.
Can I give paid private lessons on the courts?
No. The City's pickleball rules prohibit paid private lessons. A free public court listing or possession of equipment does not authorize commercial coaching. Use the City's recreation registration route for organized programs instead.
What construction affects Parkinson in 2026?
The current page says three PRC courts closed indefinitely beginning June 1 for construction. Treat that closure as current until the City updates it. The surrounding recreation site being open does not mean every court has reopened.
Parkinson schedules, registration and photos
Which Parkinson courts are public on weekdays?
The listed 2026 schedule gives courts seven through nine to public use from 8am to dusk on weekdays. The schedule began June 1. Check the posted current schedule for construction or later changes before travelling for a specific court.
What is the weekend Parkinson schedule?
Courts one through six are listed for public use noon to 4pm; courts seven through nine from 8am to dusk. Tournament closures listed for July 16-19 and September 19-20, 2026 are past as of this October 14 check, not new upcoming closures.
How do I register for instruction or programs?
The page offers online registration, phone registration at 250-469-8800 and in-person help at Parkinson Recreation Centre, 1800 Parkinson Way. Program registration is separate from joining the free casual outdoor queue.
Do park photographs prove court availability?
No. A playground or meadow photograph is not a pickleball image and is omitted here. The map and official court listing provide the location reference. Check entrance-gate rules and the current schedule for the actual court condition and public access.
